Neocron is a hybrid of the MMORPG and Shooter genres. (Fully playable in both First person and Third person).

When it comes to progression and many of the mechanics, it’s very much on the MMORPG side. With levels, “mainskills” (primary stats) and “subskills” (secondary stats that fit inside the primary stats). It includes other standard MMORPG features such as multiple forms of crafting.

But when it comes to gameplay it’s much closer to the Shooter genre. You will find no tab targetting here, weapons have an aiming reticle and depending on weapon stats you will have to maintain your aim for shorter or longer to gain increased accuracy for your shots. There are also vehicles available which use the same manual control & aiming gameplay.

The game features both PvE and PvP. However PvP is entirely optional, and is only an option for players who choose to remove the “law enforcer” implant that all new characters start with. If you wish to experience the game without the risk of another player attacking you then it is as simple as leaving the implant in.

Neocron was released in 2002 and the sequel, Neocron 2: Beyond Dome of York, was released in 2004. Both games were developed by Reakktor Media GmbH, but unfortunately the company went into insolvency in 2012. A small team of passionate fans have come together to maintain and further develop the game, and have set this server up for the public to experience the game that we hold so close to our heart.

It is a truely unique game, we have never found a game before or since this came out which manages to capture the same gameplay that Neocron offers. And we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
