New class / Mainskill system
How classes & mainskill distribution works
Classes
There are 4 classes to choose from in Neocron.
- Spy
- GenTank
- Psi Monk
- Private Eye
Historically these classes have all had different caps for their mainskills, e.g. spies could reach 100 base dex, but private eyes could only reach 80.
We have removed these hard limits and given all chars 300 mainskill points to invest wherever they want, though each mainskill cannot be higher than 100 (base, before implants, drugs, etc).
However, there are still differences. One obvious one is that Power Armors are still class restricted. A few other items too (e.g. stealth tools).
Another is that not all classes are equally proificient with all skills. Depending on your class, you may underperform in some areas when compared to a chararcter of a different class, even if your base subskills are the same. There is a multiploer which is applies to each mainskill for each class, which is as follows:

So although any class can spec into any mainskill, tanks will get the most bang for their buck from STR sunskills, psi monks from PSI skills, etc.
SKILL WINDOW
CR is your Combat Rank, this is how deadly you are. SR is your calculated skill rank, it follows your level until you cap then it follows your level + implants to calculate your “overcap” LV is your actual level FP is free mainskill points to spend C is credits that will be charged when you hit Apply to respec
Note that new characters start at level 1 with all mainskills set to 0. However they have an FP of 5, meaning you have 5 points to distribute to the mainskills of your choice.
Extra requirements
- All epic Weapons and Implants have a requirement of Char Level 40
- All rare items built from rare parts have a requirement of Char Level 55
- All MC5 items have a requirement Char Level 60
- Some psi spells have been gated behind different levels (e.g. level 5 or 10)
